Сколько я себя помню, я все время мечтала попасть в Нью-Йорк. С возрастом к этому желанию, выраженному на кино и сериалах, добавилось желание окунуться в мир моды и стиля, которым пропитан практически каждый встречный этого мегаполиса.

А данный пост расскажет нам, любителям городского шика, как стать своим среди чужих в этом огромном "яблоке" под названием Нью-Йорк.

Somewhere between Sex and the City 2 and the fourth season of Gossip Girl, you’ve decided that New York is overdone. And if you’ve decided that, then you don’t know New York. The thing is, no one can glamorize an hour’s walk in Brooklyn and turn it into a TV show. Not when that walk takes you through multiple neighbourhoods with their own myriad languages and restaurants. No one can make a postcard out of an afternoon in the East Village. How could you capture in a single frame the break dancers in the park along with the teeming tapas bar down a secret alley? At the end of the day, New York defies definition by any of its various and many parts. And when you learn that, when you realize that New York isn’t a music video with a homogenous soundtrack, then you’re on your way to becoming an insider.

1. Unless it’s summer, New York tends to stick to a darker colour palette but does so without making it drab. Try Oak at 28 Bond Street for a selection of basic colours in more avant garde silhouettes.

2. Look bored and disinterested at the whole speakeasy bar concept, but try to be seen in one anyway. Bring your friends so they can get over it too. And also because they’ll never find the secret entrance without you. Check out Please Don’t Tell at 113 St. Marks Place (it’s through the back of the phone booth inside the hot dog shop).

3. Sport a pair of shades. Propped up on your forehead or clipped to your pocket to function as an accessory (one of the only you should have) or worn even when the light is too dim so as to effect a look of disinterest. Fred Flare at 131 Meserole Street in Brooklyn has a selection of quirky shades at just $12 dollars each.

4. Sure, that designer clutch is fab, but what’s even more fab is that you bagged it at a sample sale for 70% off. New Yorkers know how to look great and do it for cheap. Check out places around the Metropolitan Pavilion on at 123 West 18th street for the next big sample sale.

Несомненно, дизайнерский клатч - это потрясающе, но еще более потрясающее, если вы бросите его в сумку с 70% скидкой. Жители Нью-Йорка знают как выглядеть сногсшибательно при этом не тратя бешеные деньги. 5. To reinforce the façade of disinterest at your surroundings, don’t forget to be on your phone constantly. It’s always more interesting over there than right here. And make sure it’s either a Blackberry or an iPhone. The only acceptable answer to “What’s your BBM pin?” is “Can you Whatsapp me instead?”

6. Because of all the time they spend walking, New Yorkers are not fat. If it’s too late to join one of the Planet Fitnesses scattered about the city, at least partake in the salad or low-carb sandwich trend for lunch at one of New York’s favourite delis, Katz’s, on 205 East Houston Street.

Из-за того, что жители Нью-Йорка постоянно ходят пешком, они худые. Если уже слишком поздно, чтобы присоединиться к одному из спортивных центров Планета Фитнесса, закажите. например в  Katz’s, сэндвич с листьями салата или с низким содержанием углеводов.
